The judge was right – in tricks like these the animals pick up on incredibly subtle signals from their owner, even though most of the time the owner doesn’t even realise that they’re making them. This was first discovered in the early 20th century with a man and his performing horse – the horse could be asked literally any math question and, as long as his owner knew the answer, would get it right because the owner would make an involuntary facial gesture when the horse reached the right number.

I don’t know about the math part, that is still weird, but the trick on the floor with the coockie is incredible! I was trying to teach this to my dog, she will wait as long as I am asking her to stay several times, but nothing compared to this!!! I just love Maggie!!!
Dont know about dogs, but horses do he same trick and they stop tapping when they see peoples “micro-expressions”(look it up) change when they expect them to stop… Not everything is as it seems. ;o)
The dog doesn’t do maths. When the other judges ask the dog a question he still has to look at the owner for a signal to stop tapping. There was one question when the dog started tapping before the judge even finished asking it, because the dog doesn’t need to know the question, its owner tells it when to stop.
I’m unable to pic up any of th signals either. In fact, for one of the counts, the owner looked away at the judges, so it wasn’t her facial expession. I guessed the dog is good at memorizing…or hs a degree in math.

Yeah , the judges are cheating too , they only ask questions to which the answer is 6 or 8. The show is fake.
